The Brotherhood of Unemployed Men (BUM's) was co-founded by Bill Gascoigne and Kyle Mankes who, after months of fruitless job searching and job networking
seminars, decided the "business as usual" approach to job searching and networking wasn't producing results, and if it wasn't working for them then maybe
it wasn't working for others. They wanted to create an organization that would offer men the opportunity to network and build relationships but also allow
them to express their views on the issues that men face regarding unemployment. However, BUM's needed to be free from the stuffy, suit and tie, morning
coffee networking culture that they found to be so void of substance. These ideas helped to create the BUM's culture of laid-back, afternoon meetings with
the opportunity to have lunch, drink a beer and possibly shoot a game of pool, all while networking and and sharing information and experiences. | |
